Karen McGillycuddy takes
the role of
Biddy Donoghue, the girl from Killorglin who who sets Johns heart fluttering. Karen McGillycuddy is a primary school teacher in St. Enda's N.S., Gorey, Co.Wexford. A native of Killorglin, Karen got her first taste for the stage as a 'Kutest Kiddie' in the Killorglin Pantomime when she was nine. Now at twenty-four, she has a string of musical achievements to her name and has recently won the coveted title of Kerry Rose. So clearly, August is going to be busy for her. After Biddy Donohue in Killorglin, she will be heading for 'Rose of Tralee'. (more) |

Finbar Coffey is Dan
Murphy, Johns best pal!! Plays Johnny’s pal Dan Murphy, who beats him to the hand of Biddy Donoghue. Finbarr has a remarkable singing voice, indeed he has arguably the most sought after voice in Kerry. A well known singer and entertainer, Finbarr starred as Billy Bigelow in Killarney Musical Societys production of 'Carousel' and was outstanding as Eddie in the recent CYMS production of 'The Country Boy'. |

| Karen McGillycuddy is a 24 year old primary school teacher in St. Enda's N.S., Gorey, Co.Wexford. A native of Killorglin, Karen got her first taste for the stage as a 'Kutest Kiddie' with the Killorglin Pantomime group when she was nine. Karen received a Bachelor of Education with music from Mary Immaculate College in Limerick in 2006 where she specialized in Drama in education in her final year. She has a senior certificate in speech and drama and effective communication (under Aine Joy) with the Leinster School of Music and is currently studying for a diploma in piano with the Royal Irish Academy of Music. A soprano and in training with Deirdre Masterson (one of the three Irish Sopranos), she previously studied voice under Muireann Joy, Aine Joy, Aine Ni Ghabainn (Killorglin), Jean Holmes (Limerick) and Morgan Crowley (Dublin). She is currently preparing for her Diploma in Voice with the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Karen was a member of the Irish Youth Choir and Killorglin Chamber Choir and was runner up in the Kerry Young voice of the Year. She has worked with many musical societies throughout Ireland. Her roles include: Laurey in Gorey's musical society's award winning production of Oklahoma, Starbuck in Moby Dick, Peep Bo (one of The Three Little Maids) in the Mikado and the Fairy Queen in Old King Cole. She is also a member of Lyric Opera in Dublin where she starred in 'La Boheme' in the National Concert Hall last February and is due to take part in 'Carmen' this coming October. She is currently preparing for the Ceol Loch Garman's 10th Anniversary Gala performance in the Wexford Opera House in July. And as if that weren't enough she also has her upcoming role as Biddy in the Johnny Patterson production, and the small matter of preparing for the Rose of Tralee Festival. In her spare time... |
